From the arms of Brahms, at the St. Denis Basilica
The Brahms Requiem is a work that fills you with gratitude, and I am grateful as a violinist to take part in a grand musical offering of this music at the famous Basilica of St. Denis. Its proceeds support a charity that feeds malnourished infants in Honduras.
Millions have believed in a God modeled after a loving father. Brahms composed as if his music were the very voice of such a loving father. There are no notes of condemnation.
May we learn to behold the heavens as the mirror of our souls, and salvation itself as a potential embedded within us. Darkness will reveal light, and death will reveal life.
